Well, it's been an epic 90 days.. As you'd expect with something that runs for three months, I have been through some real highs and lows over the course, and learned a lot along the way. I am immensely proud of what we as a group have been able to achieve here in a relatively short space of time (and, really, 3 months IS a very short time to erase literally years of abuse and bad habits from the system). The crew that I did it with - Andrew, Mark, Mug, Graham have been an amazing support, sometimes just agreeing with me when I was having a whinge, and the rest of the PCP crew - particularly Wei have been massively helpful as well with the questions back to Pat etc etc.
So today I begin life without PCP - and began that with a sandwich for lunch, some low fat yoghurt in the afternoon, but followed by a few beers this evening with a couple of clients, so not a perfect PCP day but not exactly off the rails either. I am now equipped with everything I need to know in order to stay in shape, do that 30 minute Bowen and hopefully a 3:30 marathon..
Well done to everyone who finished today, and good luck to Youngy, Arnie, Ash, Marlon, Vic, Jerome, Khoi and everyone else who are half way and have done a great job so far.. Try to do a perfect PCP and you will love the results.
Thanks Pat - you're onto a great thing, I'll continue to evangelise for you..

Day 87 - 3 to go
So having not talked to my computer for a good couple of weeks through day 75, I feel compelled to share a little more of me with the world at the moment.. sorry about that. Knocked out a great session this morning with Mark DP and Andrew followed by brunch up at Oolaa and while I feel the visible results are slowing, the strength that I've gained so far is building - must keep that up after Day 90.
I thought as I approached day 90 I'd be feeling like I had reached the end of the line, and that it would be just about maintenance from here on, but seeing Devil Scale giving me a 20% fat reading made me sorta realise that this is just the beginning.. a fantastic beginning, but that, and Patrick's comment on my last blog just made me feel that I can get better - stronger and leaner in the coming months. At 34 you feel like your best sporting years are behind you, but maybe if you've spent the past 6-8 years slowly getting fatter, less fit, doing less exercise, a life changing program like this can spur you to greater things. So maybe I do have a 3:30 marathon in me, perhaps I do work on my swimming and do a triathlon properly. The program has given me options, which is great.
anyway, enough from me for now. have a great Sunday guys.

Day 86 - Almost there
4 more sessions to go - still noticing changes even now which is great. my weight is a ludicrously low 66.6kg this morning on our new uber fancy Japanese scale. It's also telling me that I'm still 20% body fat..think we may need to buy cheaper ones that lie to you instead..
Looking forward to being able to relax on a Friday night with a glass of wine or beer - must say I was craving one last night.
The Super Sets are tough but I find them really satisfying - I am loving the pull up then tricep dip one.. they hurt like a bastard but I think are gonna be awesome for overall result. Also have developed a very belated love affair with 8Minute Abs.. doing abs at both ends of the day MUST make this 6-pack come soon. Perhaps not soon enough for day 90, but no fuss, I'll just continue in some form well after day 90.
Anyway, took some more fotos this morning - check em..

Day 82 - oh so so close.. the alarm keeps getting earlier
Ello all.. so just over a week to go, and though this week is relatively heavy on the dinners out, I am going all out to get this done perfectly. so i guess the 6oz of steak tonight was prob not ideal, but not massively over, so no harm done.
Exercises are definitely ratcheting up another gear, with the end in sight I guess I expected them to but I am just wondering when the two sets of eight lame pullups will miraculously turn into 6 sets of perfect tens. I presume that happens somewhere between day 84 and 90.. hmmm.. outside of that, am thoroughly nailing the skips - averaging around 160-170 per minute, and all other exercises are going well. took pat's advice (hoping not too late) and am spending my 8 mins a day with me new style-king mate Mike - lycra zoot suits will never go out of fashion, hoping that he can help me find the abs under this stubborn layer of fat.
Now getting close enough to plan in great detail what the agenda for the days post-PCP will look like. Thursday dinner planned, Friday a nice French or something with my wife Yumi, and Saturday a junk boat where I'll unleash the 8MAs.. woo hoo

Day 80 - back on track
Ok ok so following on from my previous post which was nice and dark (thanks Elaine and Keita for the gambatte messages after that by the way!), I bring you a little more sunshine, in keeping with the beautiful weather this morning in HK. Back on track now, having had another couple of days of near perfect PCPness. A great session yesterday morning and this morning have done my skips (will get to the rest over lunch when Oli and Yumi have a lunchtime nap). Trying to fail out on as many of the exercises as possible. This I find mentally pretty difficult. I like getting to a number, and giving up after that point.. getting to failure requires me to get to Patrick's recommended number, then pushing say 10 more after that, then once i get to that point going for another 5. Usually somewhere in that last 5 I fail out.
I'm down to around 67.5kg now, which is ~8-9kg below my start weight, yet I'm several times stronger than I was at the start. I can't wait to give the 8km Bowen Road track a crack the weekend after I finish the program. Previous best was 32.04 I think a couple of years back. Given I haven't run more than once or twice in the 90 days of PCP my guess is I'd go pretty close to that time first up. Reevesy, then we've got to get through 30 mins in the next few weeks.
Have a great PCP day all.. for Team Thor, just 10 days left.. looking at everyone's blogs I think we've dropped around 80kg between us - that's a pre-PCP me! Amazing

Day 78 - Uh oh... slipping
Hey guys.
Well it's been a long time since I've blogged, and I have to confess, I have been a less-than-perfect PCPer in the time since I've got back from Bali. Exercise-wise I'm still keeping up with the program, but I have slipped, particularly in the evenings.. A client dinner at a Teppanyaki resty in TST, washed down with a couple of beers last Tuesday, I justified to myself was the Third Indulgence come early (though I had really hoped to share the Third Indulgence Dinner with my wife!) Then a great mate of mine was in HK for Friday and Saturday, so we showed him the town - culminating in a 2am finish last Friday night and a pizza Saturday lunch in Stanley.. a pretty much perfect week up until another major blowout last night..
I am finding the final stretch really difficult. Mentally I have checked out..
Why is that? Results have been great, amazing, better than I expected so far, I have really quite enjoyed the diet, discovered I love having mango instead of chocolate after dinner, I love low fat plain yoghurt, I can tolerate skim lattes instead of the full cream variety. I love the extra energy during the day, and felt so good about the fact that I didn't touch a drop of booze for almost the first two months of the program.
Yet I have slipped so badly since I went on vacation. I think it's three things.. Firstly, I'm so happy with the results, I feel like if it ended now I'd be very satisfied with what I'd achieved. Secondly, and this is key for all those around me and particularly following, I have started to get a little lazy - Day 54 was my first drink and I felt that it was ok to occasionally have a drink - especially if it was a vodka soda or something low fat, then I was on vacation, and everyone relaxes on vacation right? Then I came back and the willpower I had earlier that would have stopped me from drinking or eating teppanyaki, just hasn't been there. Thirdly, 90 days is just a long time in HK or Tokyo!
So that's the bad stuff, the good news is that I have continued with the exercise, can do 2 sets of 10 pull-ups now (a massive improvement from earlier) and keep getting stronger. The work is getting harder and harder, and getting up 5:30 no longer cuts it - it's alarm set for 5 and up by around 5:15 else I get in ridiculously late.
I am making a pact to myself to do this last 12 days perfectly, then take a week or two off and try to do the last month of the program again.. this week is key - a few nights out with clients/friends.. if I can get the power to resist the booze and rich food back, I will be able to feel better about how I've done this.

Day 65 - Bali bliss
Just a quick one from me today.. moved up to Ubud with the family for a couple of days before heading back to HK tomorrow.. loving it here - Bali is far better than I remember it being all those years ago when I came last time (2001!).
On the workout front, they've definitely upped in intensity haven't they? I did my first session to failure today - 26 bicep curls on the final set and I was barely moving, but the Guns are starting to look a lot better for it. So much so that I imposed them on the poor people at breakfast by wearing a singlet rather than a shirt..
Food wise though, I have not been exactly PCP compliant on every meal and it is showing. Definitely still carrying a few around the gut - so I have been doing a bit more skipping to compensate. But wondering what more I can do once I get back to reality Monday to aggressively target those last few pounds? Thoughts welcome?

Day 60 and Day 62.. Bali!
Day 60 and we're down in Bali for a week or so with my sis, her family and some other friends from hk. Weather perfect, company great, food is going to be difficult! I have been very good so far on the pcp but the evenings here are difficult! Last night I had loads of vegies, but also one or two satay skewers and a bit of fried rice. To compensate I did another set of skipping this morning. An extra four mins of jumping rope cures all ills right? Right? Oh well, off snorkeling tomorrow, keeping up the fitness regime and doing my best on the food for most of the day should keep me on track. I can't believe we only have one month to go!!! It's been amazing so far but there's still so much more I want to achieve in this last month. Good luck and check in in a few days!
Actually now Day 62 by the time I get to post this, and still doing best not to stray from the regime, though the odd beer and G&T has been consumed, and definitely not sticking to PCP dinners of milk, apple and egg. Everything else going well though, but when we get back to HK I will be going for it with new resolve - feeling a little guilty for straying.

Day 53 - New photos up
Starting to really notice the difference now.. no need to tuck the gut in when i went down to the pool yesterday for the first time in a very long while!
Have been feeling pretty rough however since I got up yesterday morning - sore throat that graduated to headache and started to feel like the beginnings of the 'flu. Slept all afternoon today and feel a LOT better now. I get sick extremely rarely so I wonder if all the exercise and a pretty busy schedule at work started to take its toll but I've recovered very well so let's hope tomorrow's all good.

Day 52 - Back in the groove
Hola..
So after my little lapse Thursday night/Friday I am firmly back on track, putting in a great PCP day yesterday sweating it out in the sun with my three 80 year old mates who were yoga'ing away while I skipped before a healthy meal at the 4-seasons lobby. Finished the day with a movie with the missus and walk home.
This morning, at Wei's suggestion, met up with him, Yeeman and Reeves to do our sessions together. It is such a good idea to get together every now and then to check your form (I got a couple of pointers) and also to see how far ahead Wei is .. he nailed the 5 sets of 10 pull-ups leaving Reevsie and I trembling like little bunny rabbits. Impressive strength.
Another long weekend in HK, so off to enjoy the rest of my Synthetic Saturday now. Good luck all!

Day 50. The Day I slipped!
Gidday all happy friday
Well, after 50 days without a drink, the wheels sorta came off last night. After avoiding the booze at about 6 client events, seven Friday and Saturday nights, and every other random time I'd have likely had a drink, i finally succumbed to it last night. And it was pretty good.. I think 3 beers, 2 1/2 glasses of white and a couple of ports (i must have been drunk!) over a lovely french meal in Happy Valley (Saint Germain, used to be The Stable, recommend) with a couple of colleagues. Luckily for me Patrick had just told us to indulge at some stage this week.. unfortunately, it slightly unhinged me and I mentally checked out of PCP last night as well. Today is the first day I have not thought about the program much at all, the first day when my focus was not on trying to find the time to eat the 6 meals, I wasn't feeling as alert, and there was no way I was getting up at 530 to do the work this morning, and at 11pm I ain't doing it tonight either. So I guess this is my first proper slipup.. I am confident it will be my only one. Tomorrow is a new day, and I'm pumped to get back into it, so bring it on!

Day 45...the countdown begins tomorrow
Morning guys.. just finished day 45 workout with Reevsie, man they are getting longer by the day.. on Friday I was up at 530, into the skipping by 550 but didn't finish the whole workout til just after 7, meaning i got to work pretty late.. not sure if i can keep doing that for the next 45 days, will need to find a way to split it in half - perhaps do the skipping in the morning and then the gym work at lunch or after work, though I like the idea of doing it all at once.. again this morning the workout took just over an hour.
anyway last night was my 7th saturday night in a row without a drink - i have gone 48 days so far without any booze and decided to "celebrate" Friday with a mocktail at the ritz upstairs from work with my wife - oh what a wild life we lead nowadays! But i think this is vaguely indicative of what's been happening lately - thinking that my progress has been great so far I have decided to cut little corners here and there, which i then feel guilty about.. must get better at sticking rigidly to the program - it will make those Indulgences seem all the sweeter!
i'm starting to notice that although i've dropped loads of weight (and am getting a lot of comments about it), i can see that there's still a lot more hanging around the gut - i've got another 6 1/2 weeks to go, need to stay strong to get rid of it.

Day 42 pics are up
Has been a long time since i subjected myself to the objectivity of the camera.. pretty happy with the results so far and pumped cos we're almost half way there.. livin on a prayer
Day 41 .. back from Singapore
Tough last few days with long days in the office, then to a conference in Singapore Sunday afternoon til this morning.. managed to do most of my exercises yesterday (couldn't find a suitable pull-up bar, then ran out of time).. this morning i didn't have time to do the bicep and tricep work.. am concentrating on the exercises that Patrick said we should not drop under any circumstances (skip, guts, etc). Tomorrow I'll do the skipping and make up the bicep and tricep work from this morning..
So Monday and Tuesday night we had pretty large client events. On Monday night they rolled old Judge Jules out of some sort of induced retirement on Ibiza to play before a few hundred hard to please bankers and clients - and I avoided the booze and snacks all night, then Tuesday was a lot harder, on the rooftop of the stunning Fullerton Bay the crew were getting stuck into the white wine and mini-burgers.. it took a lot of will-power to stick with the low-fat diet water... I did fail and have a few peanuts though. Tonight I left the office at 10pm so I'm generally feeling pretty tired and cranky and just want this week to end.. but at least I'm feeling good about the fact that my gut is vanishing.

Day 31 .. feeling GOOD!
So we're through the first month, and though the exercises have got tougher, I must say I'm feeling great for them.. As predicted by Patrick-sensei the initial adrenaline has run its course, so getting up at 530 to do the workouts is a lot harder than 2 weeks ago, but unlike pre-PCP, after I've done exercise in the morning, I don't find that I'm falling asleep by 10:30am. That may also have something to do with the fact that I have a new role and an insane amount of work to get through by the end of May..
Leg work is brilliant - my legs were in pain yesterday but after the jumps today they're feeling a lot better, stronger. I would normally go for a run or hike over the weekend, but this week I've just been walking around a bit, partly cos I haven't seen my family in a while and they're finally back in HK, and partly cos I was really feeling it yesterday.
The scales are saying I've dropped about 4-5kg which is staggering - I'm sort of amazed how easily it came off.. there's still plenty more fat around the guts, but everything's moving in the right direction. In 2 weeks time we'll be half way through which I think is a good way to look at it - from there it's all down hill..
Will post some photos either tonight or tomorrow to show the progress - even if the camera lies, I know my gut is coming down and I'm seeing veins in my arms which looks pretty cool.

Day 26
Hi guys,
so everything's just getting a little tougher now isn't it? I'm starting to see that the obvious changes to body shape (read: fat gut and face) have slowed down, and the exercises have certainly stepped up a notch.. I've got a little voice in my head (different from the usual voices) that's saying "you've come a long way baby, no need to really push that hard".. at this stage the voice is weak, but i imagine he'll be back..
my family gets back from tokyo on thursday - haven't seen my wife or baby girl in almost 3 weeks, so hopefully they'll notice the changes.. i'd imagine my diet and my daughter's will be fairly similar, so i think yumi will be sorta forced into the pcp diet - she too will get to experience the joys of steamed vegies, several times a week.
i posted Day 25 shots yesterday, they show to me that although i've improved, there is still so far to go.. stalking thru a few people's shots i think we've all done really well so far, and we're almost a month in, keep it up everyone

Day 22
So we're on to week 4 now, and things still pretty manageable..except pullups.. i totally suck at them,.. I've been doing my exercises generally in the morning before work but decided to sleep in a little more today so did them in the evening.. and instead of getting 5 or so done in the first set then failing immediately in the second, i got 1 1/2 really crappy ones out tonight then decided to do the incline ones instead. even then i was pretty awful. i've read ppl like Jason Block's blog and he whinged like a baby about them too (hehe) and he ended up with some pretty insane results, so i know i'm not alone.. will give me something very measurable to benchmark myself against.
Today's new diet for the week was enlightening - the carbs in the evening vanished for me last week, this week brought the addition of 2 additional egg whites during the day. Protein up - time to make some muscle - happy about that, as i've been enjoying hoofing down the boiled eggs.
Anyway, a story to finish on.. I wandered down to the supermarket last night to buy some mangos, and as i was walking to the counter, I entered into a staring contest with the sweets aisle.. i saw the M&Ms trying to get at me...but I melted the little suckers and walked off.. they can't break me.. (but pull ups can).
have a great weekend all.. we're about 1/4 through already!!!

Day 18.. Happy MayDay Holiday/Start of G-Week
Happy Holidays to everyone...
Well had a couple of hiccups on the weekend on the food front.. firstly, ate out for dinner on Friday and Sunday nights, both careful not to overdo it on the protein front and stuck to plain vegies.. but I'm sure the vegies had a bit of oil on them, and a little bit of salt.. will have to be a bit more careful. So today I am going as plain as plain can be - boiled veg, grilled chicken... no flavourings, nothing. tastes fine, so I'm going to keep trying to do that for a few days while the family's still up in Japan.. also, i swear i've forgotten to eat my fruit til a bit late on so many days.. I guess i'm just not used to eating 6x a day.. need to start using my brain there..
exercise has been going great - am still enjoying getting up early and seeing how many jumps i can get through without tripping over myself.. on Saturday I did all 800 without a trip, was rapt with that, but today i had a few stumbles. the arm and shoulder stuff is where it hurts a bit.. most people i know, know me as the guy with massive biceps - Guns they call me.. ok enough bullshit for a sec.. seriously, my upper body is weak.. managed to get about 4 chinups yesterday before failure.. and couldn't do another set, so i am excited to see how far i can get over the next 72 days with those.
will get some photos up tonight, so you can see my progress.. i have def lost weight around the gut already (i know this, because i'm easing into suits i was squeezing into 2 weeks back) but there's still a LONG way to go.. i am still a fat skinny bloke, as one of my "friends" called me the other day.
Have a good week guys, keep it up...

The Curious Case of the Regressing Ropejumper
So I am feeling great so far, have def dropped a bit from the gut, enjoying the exercises (much more when I do them first thing in the morning which I have done every day bar one), not feeling tired during the day and not craving booze, chocolate, fries, anything. I feel ready to take on next week. But. One thing puzzles me, one day I can nail 250-350 skips in a row before I trip over the rope, the next day (like this morning) i am literally tripping over the f'n thing every 10-20 Jumps. Am I THAT uncoordinated? People who played football with me need not answer that question. Anyway, am sure I'll get over it.
Secondly, for breakfast this morning I had a raw tomato and some carrots for my 170g of veg. Ok once or twice, but I better learn some techniques to spice up my veg life quick or I will have issues.

Entering the Abyss
So my wife and daughter headed off to Japan for 3 weeks this morning, leaving me to try to fend for myself.. fortunately we have a helper, as many do in HK, so the preparation of the meals will be a dam sight easier than it would be otherwise.. so far I've enjoyed the daily exercise aspect of it, and haven't found getting up early any issue. I am already noticing that I have trimmed down ever so slightly and I reckon there's a teeny weeny bit of muscle that's poking through where my biceps are supposed to be.. will be back in a few weeks to confirm that.
Food wise, I am in desperate need of some inspiration on the vegetable part of the diet. if i eat salads the whole way through i think i may develop some pathological issues with lettuces.. so help, please if you know of any good vegie recipes...
Weather in HK right now is awesome, so getting out of bed early and having my exercise out of the way by 630 is just a great way to start the day - something I hope I'm strong enough to continue with after the 90 days is up...

Dear Computer
Does anyone else feel like Dougie Howser when they're doing these?
I learned some important lessons last night. Sometimes, when the company is good enough, being the only sober man in a room can actually be funny. Even funnier is being able to remember stuff the next day and tell people about it.
Ok so diet changes from today, the real challenge begins.. 500 skippys wasn't too bad, I can get to about 100-120 before stopping or tripping over myself which is pretty cool!
Bring on the real challenge..

Day 5 .. 1/18th through already!
So not really feeling too bad with the half food thing (Andrew and I getting a few sideways glances from our colleagues when we share our brekky and lunch), and starting to nail the skipping - managed to bust out 70 in a row 3 of the 5 sets tonight.. much prefer getting up a few mins early and getting it out of the way but slept straight thru the alarm this morning. .
Already need to find a new place to workout - my gym downstairs doesn't like me skipping indoors. Picking on the fat bloke clearly.
Go well tomorrow PCP-heads

Weekend one done..
Pretty chilled weekend, I definitely didn't miss booze (was too busy missing food to think about the beers!). The exercise was all pretty easy as it's clearly designed to be for the first week, and I spent quite a bit of time reading the blogs of our PCP Ancestors (Andy Clark's is an entertaining read and will probably be referred to when I'm thinking about chucking it in, and Blocky's is a little more down to earth with some quality looking recipes too).
All in all, just looking forward to getting on with it...

Day 1 done... 89 to go!
My first blog ever... and probably the first time I've actually made an effort to eat less too. Yesterday in the office guys were eating burgers, curries and fries I swerved. Was easy yesterday but something tells me in 6 weeks time they're going to look more tempting!
Looking forward to getting back into the kind of shape I was in years ago and willing to do all the work I have to do to get there.. bring it on!!
Here are my Day 1 fotos.. sayonara fatso!!
